Using Overture For Keyword Research

Many of us who build websites get in the habit of using the Overture «Keyword Suggestion Tool» to do keyword research.

It’s convenient, and one of the few remaining such tools that is free.

Be careful, though, because there are four problems you may run into with it. 1. Singular and plural forms are lumped together. I once optimized a site for «mountain hiking» based on the search traffic indicated by Overture. I later discovered that over half of that traffic was actually for «mountains hiking.» Unfortunately, the search engines don’t lump singulars and plurals, so those searchers didn’t find their way to my site. 2. Alphabetizing. I hesitate to mention this, because it only seems to happen occasionally, but that makes it worse. Sometimes Overture alphabetizes search phrases. If you see «bag lightweight sleeping,» you might guess that the searches are actually for «lightweight sleeping bag,» but what about «hiking mountains?» That could reasonably be searched for both ways. Look down the list to see if other phrases are obviously alphabetized. 3. Misspellings are not always seperated. I searched «perseverence,» on Overture’s research tool, an honest spelling error on my part, and saw good demand. I almost optimized a page for it before taking a second look and seeing that the results shown were for «perseverance.» You can be certain that searches are being done both ways, but how many each way? 4. Inflated figures. Overture often shows more monthly searches for a keyword than other research tools show for ALL search engines.

Who is in error? Hard to say for sure, but given Overtures other imperfections… Overture’s Keyword Suggestion Tool is a fast way to learn if there is some demand for a keyword, and it’s still free. For serious keyword research, though, it’s best to look to other tools.

How You Can Reach A Page Rank Of Four Or Five Easily

When you have a new website, or an older one that is stuck in a rut in terms of traffic, you really would love to bring the site to a higher page rank of four and above, lifting the site into more of an authority site category. These sites gain more traffic, and therefore more profits for you. How do you do this, you might be asking yourself? The answer is, using the power of press releases. Whether you have heard of this method before or not, press releases are an incredibly powerful way of achieving a high page rank in very little time. And this in turn makes your site considered an authority site, on whatever theme the site is about, by the search engines.

Which then means more traffic, which is what we all want, right? This is how you do it. Firstly, you write the press release. It should not be too long. Three hundred words is a good length. It should not sound like a sales pitch. Because why would anybody pick up a blatant advertisement? Make the headline catchy and draw the interest of the reader. Make sure you have your keywords in the title and body of the release. Ask the why, where, what and how. Now read your press release and ask someone else you know to read it too, to get their opinion. It should flow and not read in a choppy way. Finally comes the time to submit your press release. You can submit it for free, however the maxim, you get what you pay for, as always applies. If you submit a free release, you will only get a tiny amount of traffic and fairly poor back links to your website, often irrelevant links too. For example, your site is about cars, and a website concerning cold cream links back to you. Not good. I know. Because I have tried free submits in the past, and this is what happened to me. Unless the press release is about something incredible, which spreads via word of mouth, do not expect much in the way of results. In order to get the page rank of four or five you need to be in the first ten positions, and submit two or three times in a few weeks. The cost would probably be several hundred dollars, depending upon how high you paid for. Sounds like a lot, I know. But getting a quick high page rank, and therefore high future earnings from the website is worth the short term cost. If this is too much, pay what you can afford. The higher your position, the more traffic you are likely to have. The biggest press site is called PR Web. Do a search for it. Now get going, and submit a press release and watch your visitor count soar.

Reciprocal Link Frauds – How To Detect And Avoid

Reciprocal linking is a web marketing strategy that web marketing specialists use for the purpose of generating higher search engine ranking and more site traffic.

These are the original purposes of reciprocal linking. For years, reciprocal linking is an indispensable web marketing strategy, not until the reciprocal linking frauds came to be.Why Do Website’s Use Reciprocal Linking Frauds? There are some websites who claim to be a trusted reciprocal linking partner when in fact they just aim to outwit their so-called linking partner. Why do they use reciprocal linking frauds? There are two possible reasons for this. • These websites want to have one-way incoming links rather than a reciprocal link. This is due to the fact that one-way incoming link is more valuable than a reciprocal link. • To avoid participating in reciprocal linking activity with lower ranking websites. These two are the most possible reasons why some websites have thought of tricking their reciprocal linking partners. What reciprocal linking frauds do these websites use?Warning: Reciprocal Linking FraudsSince reciprocal linking has marked its own worth in terms of web marketing and site promotion, it became a favorite object for fraud. There are some websites who just can’t make a true and clean reciprocal linking. They always try to outwit their linking partners using any of the following reciprocal linking frauds and tricks: •Absent Back LinkOne reciprocal linking fraud that some websites use is the absent back link. This happens when your website’s reciprocal linking partner asks for a link from your website in exchange of a back link. When you have already linked to their website, they won’t give your website a back link. Thereby, giving their websites a one way incoming link. •Hidden LinkThere are times when some websites make your back link invisible to the search engines. They use JavaScript to hide the back links.

There are times when your reciprocal linking partner uses the rel=”nofollow” attribute which makes the search engines ignore your link. •Redirect Script For Back LinkSome reciprocal linking partners use a redirect script to hide the back link pointing to your website.

The back link which is supposed to take the search engines and online users to your website actually points to another page on the reciprocal linking partner’s website.

This way, the back link pointing to your website is not recognized by the web crawler, making it a useless link. Reciprocal linking still lives and is still effective in increasing your website’s search engine ranking and traffic, BUT only if it is performed properly. Don’t be a victim of reciprocal linking frauds and don’t be a reciprocal linking fraud user as well. This is to ensure that we can still enjoy the benefits of reciprocal linking in our web marketing activity.

Internet Marketing from Florida

Internet Marketing from Florida wouldn’t be strange if you live in Florida.

I however live in Colorado. I am sitting in Celebration Florida while I’m writing this post. I have been here since Tuesday and today is Sunday. I have been attending an Internet Marketing – Blogging Boot Camp. This has been a fun week. I flew out here with my life long friend Jeff. Our mothers took turns driving us to pre school when we were kids and now in our 40’s we are still neighbors and friends. Jeff is a farmer and doesn’t get into Internet Marketing. He came out here with me for a little vacation before he gets back to those long days of farming for the Colorado spring and summer. We arrived Tuesday evening and checked out parts of Orlando Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday night was the first meeting for the Internet Marketing boot camp. Since then I have spent about 30 hours in meetings and working on my new blogging method. I learned about this new method from my new friend Mike back in December. I started a blog about one of my passions in life. The blog is about Billiards. After following Mikes advice for about a month, I had over 10,000 visitors to my blog in January 2008. I know this is not a ton of traffic. It is a significant amount however for a blog that is only 30 days old. This boot camp is building on the things which I have already learned from Mikes training. If you would like to learn about this method, follow the link below. Read about Mikes blogging method Here. To Your success, Ted
