Game changer Ishan Kishan
Game clogger James Neesham

Best bid: Ishan Kishan top runscorer 4/1

The strategy: Don't expect quick starts in Chepauk (5 games)

Squad: Rohit Sharma, Adam Milne, Aditya Tare, Anmolpreet Singh, Anukul Roy, Arjun Tendulkar, Chris Lynn, Dhawal Kulkarni, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, James Neesham, Jasprit Bumrah, Jayant Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Marco Jansen, Mohsin Khan , Nathan Coulter-Nil, Piyush Chawla, Quinton de Kock, Rahul Chahar, Saurabh Tiwary, Suryakumar Yadav, Trent Boult, Yudhvir Singh Charak

Possible XI: Rohit, De Kock, Yadav, Kishan, Pollard, Hardik, Krunal, Coulter-Nil / Chawla, Chahar, Bumrah, Boult

Conclusion: Only injury or an unpredictable collective malaise (as has happened in the past on this lot) can seemingly deny the Mumbai Indians a sixth title in nine seasons and an unprecedented title in three consecutive titles. Only the titans in South Africa can achieve such a hat trick in the T20 leagues around the world (India, South Africa, England, Caribbean, Australia, Bangladesh).

While much of the analysis surrounding their challengers has focused on one player who is out of position here or one type of player who is about to do so, Mumbai has no such concerns. They are perfectly balanced. They choose the best players in the right positions. They are not overcrowded in one area or deprived in another. They are just the best. Just look at this win rate.

There are of course weaknesses. But they are arguments. As an inaugural partnership, Rohit and De Kock can be a little prone to spin on tuning surfaces and they play nine games in Chepauk and Delhi, the two most spin-frindly pitches of the tournament. But if they were concerned, they could split the couple and bring the diamond up Ishan Kishan. The other weaknesses? Well, their weirdos are finding it difficult against left winger. And for some reason they are terrible against Rajasthan, losing six of their last eight.

Game clogger Ajinkya Rahane

Best bid: Shikhar Dhawan Top Runscorer 7/4

The strategy: In Chase-Heavy Kolkata (5 games), DC reliably came second

Squad: Rishabh Pant, Ajinkya Rahane, Amit Mishra, Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan, Axar Patel, Chris Woakes, Ishant Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Lalit Yadav, Lukman Meriwala, Manimaran Siddharth, Marcus Stoinis, Praveen Dubey, Prithvi Shaw, R Ashwin, Ripal Patel , Sam Billings, Shikhar Dhawan, Shimron Hetmyer, Steven Smith, Tom Curran, Umesh Yadav, Vishnu Vinod

Possible XI: Stoinis, Dhawan, Smith, Hose, Vinod, Billings, Axar, Ashwin, Mishra, Rabada, Ishant

Conclusion: Delhi's run to last season's final was a success as it seemed like they had no idea about their best XI. Marcus Stoinis returned to the opening slot in the end, Rishab Pant fought in 6th place, the unreliable Shimron Hetmyer was in and out of the team and Ajinkya Rahane too. The only two players they were sure of were South African aces Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. Forgive us if we are not convinced, you deserve the status of a second favorite.

The loss of Captain Shreyas Iyer is a major blow because it increases the chances of Rahane returning to 3rd place. He had a disastrous hit rate of 105 in his last tenure. They spent a lot of money on another anchor, Steve Smithand all-rounder Tom Curran. Yet they don't seem to need any of them. Everywhere you look there are problems. Prithvi Shaw, for example, had a terrible campaign. Stoinis is a superior start for a finisher but Delhi could be forced to play it here.

There is a solution. Nortje may have to be sacrificed with Ishant Sharma a more than adequate substitute. Then they could free up an overseas slot for Sam Billings and get Stoinis to open it. Smith could play the anchor role at # 3 and allow Delhi to mate Pant and his clone Vishnu Vinod at # 4 and 5. Don't expect this to happen as this type of creative thinking seems to go beyond coach Ricky Ponting. By the way, no team came in second and got better in the next season.

Game changer AB De Villiers
Game clogger Mohammed Siraj

Best bet: No bet recommended

The strategy: Very vulnerable with this bat first record in Kolkata (5 games)

Squad: Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Adam Zampa, Daniel Christian, Daniel Sams, Devdutt Padikkal, Glenn Maxwell, Harshal Patel, Joshua Philippe, Kane Richardson, KS Bharat, Kyle Jamieson, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Mohammed Siraj, Navdeep Saini, Pavan Deshpande, Rajat Patidar, Sachin Baby, Shahbaz Ahmed, Suyash Prabhudessai, Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal

Possible XI: Kohli, Paddikal, De Villiers, Maxwell, Azharuddeen, Christian, Sundar, Jamieson, Chahal, Saini, Siraj

Conclusion: Bangalore, in its home country IPL, has always been plagued by the flat Bangalore deck. However, the fact that they have consistently failed to eliminate weak bowling stocks tends to be ignored. You remain a chase outfit with a dire record in defending a score. Last season they lost six goals in a row. Once again, they did not address this in the draft. Kyle Jamieson is an exciting all-rounder, but he's been expensive in 20 caps and if he partners with expensive Mohammed Siraj little is likely to change for Bangalore.

In fact it was a different problem Virat Kohli is doing handicrafts. It took them a while last semester to find their best XI, and when they did, they were preparing for a title attack. Then they lost their nerve and ended with a whimper. We can already see where they are having problems. Sachin Baby and Mohammed Azharudeen could replace each other while Jamieson, Daniel Sams and Kane Richardson could do the same.

Game changer Bhuv Kumar
Game clogger Manish Pandey

Best bid: Saha Top Runscorer 8/1

The strategy: Possible to lean back straight away

Squad: David Warner, Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Basil Thampi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jagadeesha Suchith, Jason Holder, Jonny Bairstow, Kane Williamson, Kedar Jadhav, Khaleel Ahmed, Manish Pandey, Jason Roy, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Priyam Garg, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, Shahbaz Nadeem, Shreevats Goswami, Siddarth Kaul, T. Natarajan, Vijay Shankar, Virat Singh, Wriddhiman Saha

Possible XI: Warner, Saha, Bairstow, Pandey, Samad, Sharma, Proprietor, Rashid, Kumar, Natarajan, Sandeep

Conclusion: If there's a more frustrating franchise in IPL than Sunrisers then reply on a postcard. You have always looked for the most organized, efficient and balanced XI - apart from one position. A finisher with the bat. And You consistently ignore weakness when it comes to design. For some unknown reason, they are obsessed with anchor thugs and have collected them as if they were suffering from some form of obsessive-compulsive disorder. You can choose from Williamson, Pandey, Shankar, and Garg. So what are they doing in the auction? They sign another anchor in Kedar Jadav, one of the worst performances in a tournament Chennai has seen last season.

And if Mitchell Marsh, who could have solved this problem, self-isolates, what do you do? You sign Jason Roy, an opener. It's a position where they're also overflowing with Warner, Bairstow, and Saha options. Saha is expected to open with Warner, whose fitness is an issue. This means Sportsbooks is extreme 8/1 over Saha, who tops the running charts overall.

There is no doubt that they have the best bowling lineup in the tournament, but they should be a better roster build choice here. This term is stronger than ever, as Bhuv Kumar shows an extraordinary form, Natarajan an ace at death and fine reserves in the underrated Khaleel and Sidd Kaul. A play-off slot looks safe, but once again we expect their batting problems to be the last to doom them.

Game changer Ntish Rana
Game clogger Kuldeep Yadav

Best bet: Rana Top Bat 9/2

The strategy: Take the chance when Russell and Narine are likely injured

Squad: Eoin Morgan (Capt.), Andre Russell, Ben Cutting, Dinesh Karthik, Harbhajan Singh, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Karun Nair, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Nitish Rana, Pat Cummins, Pawan Negi, Prasidh Krishna, Rahul Tripathi, Rinku Singh, Sandeep Warrier Shakib Al Hasan, Sheldon Jackson, Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill, Sunil Narine, Tim Seifert, Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravathi and Venkatesh Iyer

Possible XI: Gill, Rana, Tripathi, Morgan, Russell, Karthik, Cummins, Narine, Nagarkoti, Mavi, Varun

Conclusion: Kolkata, they said, put together the most terrifying batting unit ever seen for 2020. They would destroy bowling units, they said. Well, you were wrong. Only Bangalore scored runs slower and Kolkata finished the campaign outside of the top XNUMX. It's been an extremely disappointing season. But it wasn't unpredictable.

Their bowling pace lacked variety. And it still does. Andre Russell wasn't 100% fit and couldn't land a top bat winner. Can we be sure he's at his best this time around? These ailments reinforced belief that Sunil Narine was on the retreat, a change of captain halfway and a lot of hacking and changing make it difficult to rely on a surge of luck.

The bright spots were Varun's emergence as a much-needed spin threat, with Kuldeep Yadav taking a noticeable slump, much better plans on the field to keep things close, and the opening pair struck by Shubmann Gill and now after the tournament's death became Covid negative Ntish Rana. The latter opened in the last three games and shattered two fifties. We haven't forgotten. Let's hope they don't have it. Sportsbook might have done it and made him 9/2 for the Top Bat.

Game changer Moeen ali
Game clogger MS Dhoni

Best bets: L Ngidi Top Bowler 10/1 R Gaikwad Top Runscorer 5/1

The strategy: Go under on first power play and innings runs

Squad: MS Dhoni (Capt.), Ambati Rayudu, C. Hari Nishanth, Cheteshwar Pujara, Deepak Chahar, Dwayne Bravo, Faf du Plessis, Harisankar Reddy, Imran Tahir, Josh Hazlewood, K. Bhagath Varma, K. Gowtham, Karn Sharma, KM Asif, Lungi Ngidi Mitchell Santner, Moeen Ali, Narayan Jagadeesan, R. Sai Kishore, Ravindra Jadeja, Robin Uthappa, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sam Curran, Shardul Thakur, Suresh Raina

Possible XI: Gaikwad, Du Plessis, Rayudu, Raina, Moeen, Dhoni, Jadeja, S. Curran, Thakur, Chahar, Ngidi

Conclusion: Chennai builds its roster with a view of the rotating surface of the Chepauk. But this time they won't play games at home this year. They had of course built their squad for 2020 and believed they would play at home until Covid scored. As a result, they had a miserable time in the United Arab Emirates with their worst ever result. They look stronger, however, thanks largely to the signing of Moeen Ali, who sets the much-needed line on death as MS Dhoni's demise accelerates. It would be good too Make Ravi Jadeja fit, To.

The big advantage is the return of Suresh Raina. He was sorely missed in the top order and his pairing with Ambati Rayudu on numbers 4 and 3 is excellent. We are neither convinced of the opening pair that makes for a blistering start, nor of Sam Curran's value. Chennai likes it because it diversifies the left arm, but in time they could revert to old favorite Dwayne Bravo. Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir are likely to sit on the bench, but would go to most XIs. Lungi Ngidi would be the first name on the team sheet for us. He took a wicket every ten balls last season. He'll miss the first game, but 10/1 over top bowler is an overreaction. Gaikwad is underrated even for big runs given brilliant flashes in the last semester.

Game clogger Jay Unadkat

Best bid: Chris Morris top wicket taker 4/1

The strategy: Resist the defense all day

Squad: Sanju Samson, Akash Singh, Andrew Tye, Anuj Rawat, Ben Stokes, Chetan Sakariya, Chris Morris, David Miller, Jaydev Unadkat, Jos Buttler, Kartik Tyagi, KC Cariappa, Kuldip Yadav, Liam Livingstone, Mahipal Lomror, Manan Vohra, Mayank Markande , Mustafizur Rahman, Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube, Shreyas Gopal, Yashasvi Jaiswal

Possible XI: Stokes, Buttler, Samson, Tewatia, Dube, Morris, Parag, Gopal, Tye, Unadkat, Tyagi

Conclusion: Rajasthan was dealt a severe blow with the loss of Jofra Archer to an injury. It leaves a gaping hole in their bowling plans when the wicket taker with the new ball is absent. Archer took 20 wickets in the last semester. He will be sorely missed even if he dies with the bat. If you're looking at this possible XI and assuming it's a spotlight, you're probably right. Incidentally, Jos Buttler could be asked to play as finisher because he does very well on No. 4. We definitely hope so as we would beat the 5/2 top price for the explosive Sanju Samson. Let's hope he makes the choice of a skipper and hits where he wants

It might take a while for the Royals to figure out their best XI. Early on, we expect AJ Tye or Mustafizur Rahman to take care of Archer, but down the line they can decide Liam Livingstone or David Miller need to get into the middle order considering they have a lot of all-rounders. We don't include Stokes in that number. He has played six innings, taken two wickets and played more than ten wickets in his last tenure. Jaydev Unadkat looks expensive and could be a culprit for big runs if he tries to reverse that terrible record first. Chris Morris, the most expensive player in history, has a huge workload.

Game changer Nic Pooran
Game clogger Mohammed Shami

Best bid: Jhye Richardson Top Bowler 7/2

The strategy: On innings runs, enter the game high if you bowl first on death

Squad: KL Rahul (Capt.), Arshdeep Singh, Chris Gayle, Chris Jordan, Darshan Nalkande, Dawid Malan, Deepak Hooda, Fabian Allen, Harpreet Brar, Ishan Porel, Jalaj Saxena, Jhye Richardson, Mandeep Singh, Mayank Agarwal, Mohammed Shami, Moises Henriques Murugan Ashwin, Nicholas Pooran, Prabhsimran Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Riley Meredith, Sarfaraz Khan, Saurabh Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, Utkarsh Singh

Possible XI: Rahul, Agarwal, Pooran, Sarfaraz, Hooda, Henriques, Richardson, Shami, Bishnoi, M. Ashwin, Arshdeep

Conclusion: Kings warned early in the 2020 season that it was a basket case. They allied with Delhi when they cruised in a chase after an inexplicable breakdown and failed to defend against Rajasthan two games later in 223. They suffered terribly from death in the field and that's why they enlisted Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith to solve this. But both are unlikely to play. Finding space for one is a challenge. They have significant balance issues due to the lack of Indian all-rounders, which means they could be (just like last season) with five bowlers to choose from.

They are very dependent on KL Rahul to continue its extraordinary form with the bat. Last year's top runscorer has at least rediscovered his touch in the ODI series against England. People like Deepak Hooda and Sarfaraz Khan absolutely have to get to the party with fast runs. Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin had an excellent campaign as a spin pair last season and Kings should at least be less leaky in the field. Mohammad Shami is great with the new ball, but not so with the old one. Richardson (Hit rate of 7/12 to beat the bash charts) should be strong.

Kings can start brilliantly and then blow up. Or the other way around. Who knows what they're going to do this year.
